Our Governing Body

GBThe Foundation Body for Rosh Pinah is the Scopus Jewish Educational Trust chaired by Mr Peter Ohrenstein.

Rosh Pinah has an active Governing Body who involve themselves in all aspects of the school and work closely with the Headteacher in making decisions about the School and planning for future development. Many Governors have children at the school. The Governors have overall responsibility to ensure that the school is running efficiently and effectively according to its ethos, current Government legislation and needs of the children.

The Governing Body together with the Headteacher is responsible for the school.  The Head Teacher is responsible for day to day operational matters and for working with the Governing Body in defining the school's long-term strategic aims. The Governing Body appoints the Headteacher and delegates responsibility for the day to day running of the school. The Head Teacher in turn, delegates responsibility for the Leadership and Management of the school to members of the Leadership Team and other staff as appropriate but holds everyone to account.

The Governing Body holds the school to account for the standards it achieves. It ensures that all resources (including the school budget and staff) are properly used to meet the needs of all children and that the school provides value for money.  It works to encourage, support and challenge the school.

The full Governing Body meets termly and these meetings are clerked by a member of the London Borough of Barnet's Governor Support Service. The Sub Committees usually meet each half term.

The Sub Committees currently include: Admissions, Curriculum, Jewish Studies, Health and Safety and Premises, Building, Finance, Catering.

What qualifications are needed?
No formal qualifications are required, just a desire to put experience and life skills to good use.
Our Governors are people with a passionate interest in education and a belief in working together to improve outcomes for all our children. They are people who have a few hours to spare each month, and enjoy working as part of a team. Governors do attend training both within the Jewish Community and the London Borough of Barnet.
