Dr Alan Shaw has been involved in both formal and informal education throughout his career including 33 years as a headteacher in Jewish day schools. He holds BA and MA degrees in Jewish Studies and a Doctorate in Education for his thesis on leadership of voluntary aided schools in England. He acts as an inspector for Pikuach and lectures at LSJS on the BA in Jewish Education course.
He is a member of the Edgware United Shul Council and the United Synagogue Council. He serves on the Barnet SACRE Committee and the Barnet Multi Faith Forum Executive. He also directs the Barnet SACRE Interfaith Choir which brings together children of different faiths to sing alongside each other in friendship and harmony.
